buildlab
overview: buildlab is a program that integrates 3 elements:
- art and creativity
- designing and building real-world projects – outside of computer screens
- electronics, technology, and computing
narrow focus: as a more narrow focus, build lab is a space to build real-world projects with electronics and microcontrollers (e.g. micro:bit, arduino) and microcomputers (e.g. raspberry pi).
broad focus: buildlab is a new program. it could include elements such as:
- electronics (breadboards, lights, buzzers, etc.) and circuits
- microcontrollers and microcomputers
- programming and computers, ai, and networking
- robotics - including designing and building mazes / games / play fields
- 3d printing, cad (computer aided design), and cam (computer assisted manufacturing)
- lego structures, cardboard structures, woodworking structures, metal structures
- creature building / animatronics / halloween decorations and costumes
- clay / cardboard / wood / metal / paper mache
- pipe cleaners
- googly eyes
- fashion / wearable electronics
- architecture
- rube goldberg machines with dominoes / marble runs / lights / video / sound design / robotics, etc.
- automated agriculture
